My conclusion is only that his views about homonymy, and about the exercise of capacities, do not show he believes in that sort of magical soul. If these arguments are right, then Aristotle may be a physicalistic functionalist, as Nussbaum and Putnam and Sorabji say, though his understanding of the physical may be different from any we know.
